City and County put together flood preparation information

Monday, July 09, 2012

Julie Smith

The recent Waldo Canyon Fire has significantly changed the landscape, presenting risk of debris flow and flooding. Hillsides once protected by vegetation have been compromised and precipitation will have unknown effects on the landscape.

The City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County have joined together to provide the public with information about flood preparedness and how to stay safe during a flood event. Both agencies have coordinated the publishing of shared information on their web sites at www.springsgov.com/floodinfo and http://shr.elpasoco.com/Waldo+Canyon+Fire+Information. They will also use Twitter with the hashtag #waldoflood to share information.

In particular, citizens are asked to pay attention to the following important information:

Unit Information

USFS Shield
Pike and San Isabel National Forests
U.S. Forest Service
2840 Kachina Drive
Pueblo, CO 81008
