A Red Flag Warning has been issued today for low humidity and strong winds over the fire area. Wind gusts as high as 25 mph can be expected. These windy conditions may hamper firefighting efforts, especially the use of aircraft. Firefighters will work to keep the fire south of Rampart Range Road where possible and out of Queens Canyon using type 1 crews (Hotshots), and aircraft. Structure protection in Cedar Heights and Cascade communities will continue. Preparation will begin on the Lucky 4 Road for indirect line construction. Continue structure preparation and protection around Palmer Reservoir and Eagle Lake Camp. Crews will also continue to provide structure protection in the Cedar Heights subdivision. Line construction will continue along the north and west flanks of the fire where it can be safely done.
The fire has burned to the edge of the communities of Cascade, Chipita Park, and towards Green Mountain Falls. No structures have been lost in these areas. The fire continues to back down towards Hwy 24 as it moves to the northwest. A single cabin was lost last evening in the Eagle Lake Camp area as the fire moved to the north. The fire is currently just to the south of the Rampart Reservoir Recreation Area.
