Size: Estimated at 2,363 acres (acreage included that burned previously in a prescibed burn)
Fuels: Mixed conifer with aspen
Assigned Resources: 223 personnel, 13 engines, 2 dozer
Observed Fire Behavior: Group torching, short uphill runs, long range spotting
Containment: 15% - No estimate date for containment
Evacuations: Summer homes and cabins
Closures: To provide for public and firefighter safety an area closure for the fire has been implemented. All trails and roads within the area from the junction of the Forest Roads 2421 and 068 south along Road 068 to the South Fork of Box Creek at the intersection of Road 070/the Paiute ATV Trail, northwest to Dry Creek Ranger Station through Big Flat and then north along the Paiute ATV Trail/Road 083 to Manning Meadows, then north along Road 078 to Road 084 (Monroe Meadows), then east along Road 084 to Road 1163, then north along Road 1163 to Road 081, then east along Road 2421 to the intersection of Road 068 near the Koosharem Guard Station. Additional road closure points are Monroe Mountain Road at Hunt's Lake; Greenwich Road at Indian Flat; Koosharem Road at Milos Kitchen; and Cove Road at Christensen Springs.
Remarks: The fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy. Objectives for the fire include providing for the safety of the public and firefighters, and to minimize impacts to private property. Significant progress was made on the fire yesterday. Actions planned for today are to continue to hold and maintain the west flank, mopping up 1 chain (66 feet). Continue handline and dozer line construction around the northeast corner of the fire. Protect structures on private land utilizing air support.
