Fire activity picked up this afternoon as expected. A large smoke column formed in the northwest, over the North Fork of Sand Creek and the main branch of Sand Creek. The column is currently shading the northeast edge, keeping activity low in the Weminuche Valley, where crews continue to provide point protection. There is also some activity along the southwestern edge of the fire.
