Little Sand Fire Update - June 15, 2012

By order of the Hinsdale County Sheriff (in consultation with Incident Command Team Leaders, San Juan National Forest staff and Archuleta Emergency Management) residents of the Poma Ranch and Weminuche Ranch have been given an EVACUATION notice.

The Little Sand fire has reached a predetermined "trigger" point, and is moving in a northeasterly direction. Residents and visitors have been ordered to leave the area immediately.

This evacuation will remain in place until conditions improve.

Structure protection is in place.

The conditions, including fire behavior, weather and safety, will be continually evaluated and monitored by fire managers. Constant communication will help to ensure home owners and other publics are kept informed.

No other evacuations or pre-evacuations are in place at this time.
