Training Ends at The Az Wildfire Academy
Incident: Az Wildfire and Incident Mg MT Academy Wildfire
WILLIAMS, Ariz. – The tenth annual Arizona Wildfire & Incident Management Academy ended Friday, March 16, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona with more than 600 students receiving certificates for successful completion of a variety of training courses.
Activities during the week included classroom instruction, field exercises, open house and a social where an auction was held for a pair of firefighter boots. The auction raised several thousand dollars for the Academy and the scholarship program. Students may apply for a scholarship to help offset tuition costs to attend the Academy.
This year, Tim’s Buick generously donated a 2010 GMC Sierra pickup for another fund raiser. Raffle tickets were sold during the week-long event and will continue to be sold at various events throughout Yavapai County until 5000 are sold. The proceeds will benefit the academy and the scholarship program.
The Arizona Wildfire Academy is a non-profit organization with the mission of developing professional and safe responses in the wildland environment by offering training and education that meet National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards.
