Aerial Ignition to Begin Friday, 5/11/12

Aerial igntion will begin in the Upper River Burning project on Friday, May 11th. Pending air quality approval, ignition will occur in units 36, 53, 54, and 55a, which are in the West Elk, Spion Kop, Taft, and Swift Creek areas. Ignition will also occur in the Brett Creek drainage. The helicopter will be operating out of the President's Flat dispersed area on Friday, and will move down to the Shoshone Camp helibase later in the weekend. Units 58, 59 and 62 in the Lost Creek drainage will also be ignited over the weekend, if weather and smoke conditions allow. Please avoid aerial ignition areas, as they can be dangerous.
