Lion Announcement

Area Closure Still in Effect Due to Lion Fire

For public safety with the Lion Fire burning in the Golden Trout Wilderness, Forest and Park officials have decided to enact an area closure for the Lion Fire. A general description of the closure area includes all backcountry trails northeast of Shake Camp Trailhead to trail 32E06 north of Round Meadow. Please click on links to see maps and written description for closure area.

Anyone planning to travel into the Wilderness from the Forest Trailheads is asked to contact the Western Divide Ranger District at 559-539-2607 between the hours of 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to obtain your permit for overnight stay in areas outside the closure area. Those hiking in from the southern trails of Sequoia National Park are asked to call 559-565-3766. This closure is in effect until further notice.
