Released: 6/29/2011
HASTINGS FIRE SUMMARY
On June 22, 2011 an Alaska Type 3 organization based out of Fairbanks Area Forestry took command of both the Moose Mountain and Hastings fires. The Incident Command Post was moved out of the Moose Mountain Lodge to the gravel pit off of Murphy Dome Road.
The focus over the last week has been to secure the northern perimeter of the fire along with the suppression repair work taking place on the eastern perimeter. The North Star crew will begin work on the Moose Mountain Fire suppression repair today. The fires still have approximately 200 personnel assigned to them, working both in the field and as support.
A community meeting will be held on Thursday June 30, 2011 at 6pm. The meeting will take place at the Fox Lions Club located at 2285 Steese Hwy in Fox, AK. The main focus will be to get the public's input and concerns about the Suppression Repair Plan for Hastings Fire.
A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) remains in place over the Hastings Fire. Pilots are advised to use extreme caution in the airspace surrounding the incident, and should check Notices to Airmen (NOTAMS) for more information. A TFR map is located at http://tfr.faa.gov/save pages/detail 1 0876.html
