Western Montana Flood Threat Lessens as Weather Warms

Nearly every day for more than a month, the National Weather Service in Missoula has held a conference call about deep snow and rising rivers.

The calls were targeted to city, county and state departments dealing with flooding, as well as the local media.

The last daily call, until further notice, came Wednesday.

With no flooding potential on major rivers or river stems in the region for the next few days, most western Montanans can continue on their vacation from flooding. Still, the weatherman wants to keep his options open.

"Flooding season is not over," said National Weather Service meteorologist Bob Nester.
