Released: 9/22/2009
Current fire situation: The Silver Fire is now 100% contained. Residents and visitors can expect to see occasional flare-ups and smoke as unburned material withing the fire line continues to burn. Firefighters will continue to secure and mop-up control lines and the interior of the fire.
The Silver Fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain southeast of Silver Lake near the small community of Meadow Valley, approximately 10 miles west of Quincy on the Plumas National Forest in northeastern California.

A "red flag" warning for hot dry weather conditions continues through today. Residents and visitors are asked to be extra careful, especially with anything that involves machiner, open flame or sparks around dry vegetation.
