Today's Update: Firefighters' control efforts were successful in halting fire growth. The fire is currently holding within containment lines and fire managers do not expect the fire to grow beyond the current burned acres. Crews continue to mop up and implement fire suppression repair and rehabilitation activities. They will mop up hot spots up to 200 feet from the fire perimeter, and patrol the fire area.
Objectives for fire managers are to keep the fire within existing fire containment lines and accomplish fire suppression repair while minimizing fire damage to bald eagle nesting and winter roost habitat, historic and prehistoric resources, and riparian areas adjacent to Butte Creek.
NorCal Team II assumed command of the Tennant Fire from the Klamath NF on Monday evening, July 20, 2009. Three occupied outbuildings on private property were destroyed by the fire.
The incident management team has initiated the demobilization of resources and has begun transition planning for a local type 3 organization to manage the fire due to the reduction in incident complexity and fire behavior.
