Cactus Fire Evening Update - July 22, 2008

Incident: Cactus Wildfire

The Cactus Fire area received around 1/4 inch of precipitation today, helping to cool hot spots. Containment of the 518-acre fire is estimated at 90%, and fire officials expect 100% containment tomorrow.

All remaining closures associated with the fire, including the Cactus Flats and Toll Mountain roads and the OHV connector route to Whiskey Gulch Trailhead have been lifted, effective Wednesday, July 23rd at 6:00 a.m.

Resources assigned to the fire include 1 helicopter, 3 crews, 1 engine and 155 total personnel. Demobilization of excess resources has begun.

Rick Kusicko's Northern Rockies Type 2 Incident Management Team is overseeing the fire suppression efforts. The Incident Command Post has been established at Whitehall High School.

The cause of the fire, reported on July 19th, is still under investigation.
