NOTICE: PUBLIC MEETING TOMORROW
Sunday, August 5 at 8:00PM
Clinton Rural Fire Department
Good progress was made on containment lines on the Mile Marker 124 Fire yesterday even though the fire behavior and weather conditions were against the firefighters. Active fire behavior was observed yesterday in the interior of the fire but no growth outside the fire was reported.
Firefighters will continue to improve the lines that have been made over the past several days. The firefighters have been able to construct dozer line, and handline directly on the fire's edge as well as indirect line using parallel line constructing techniques. Contingency lines are being constructed on the ridges to the north and northwest of the fire between Wallace Creek and west fork of Cramer Creek. These lines are being constructed as part of a contingency plan in case the fire grows toward the Wallace Creek residents.
Hot dry winds and lower humidity is expected to bring red flag conditions to the fire's area this afternoon at 2:00pm to 10:00 pm. Yesterday the fire experienced the same conditions and showed little to no growth.
Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team A the team managing the Mile Marker 124 Fire held a community meeting last night at the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department fire hall. The fire team updated the residents on current evacuations, fire strategies and planned actions for the next few days. Due to new fire starts in the Northern Rockies Region and the lack of resources the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team A has agreed to extend their assignment for an undetermined time.
