Residents and Resort Guests are Allowed to Return to Evacuated Areas
Temporary Area Closure on the Madison Arm Fire Revised
West Yellowstone, MT - Evacuated residents and resort guests in the area of the Gallatin National Forest, near West Yellowstone, MT, have been allowed to return.
The evacuation order for the Madison Arm Resort, Lakeshore summer homes, and Horse Butte and Rainbow Point areas is lifted.
Madison Arm Resort guests and Lakeshore area residents can access the area using the Madison Arm Road at the junction of U.S. Highway 20. Only Residents and resort guests will be allowed into the area tonight and will need to present identification at the check point. The area will be open to the general public tomorrow afternoon (July 2). Travelers on the roads should use caution due to fire traffic.
The Temporary Area Closure has been reduced to south of the Madison Arm River and east of Madison Arm Road. The revised boundaries of the Temporary Closure Area are roughly defined by the Madison Arm River on the north, the Madison Arm road on the west, U.S. Highway 20 on the south and U.S. Highway 191 on the east. Rainbow Point and Baker's Hole Campground are open.
