Summary

The Chippy Creek Fire is located 20 miles north of Plains and 12 miles north/northwest of Hot Springs, Montana. Jess Secrest's Type 2 Northern Rockies Incident Management Team is fighting the fire.

On Monday, September 10, 2007 the ICP/Base Camp at Marion will be dismantled and the management of the fire will be transferred to two Type 3 incident management teams. One team will operate out of the Montana DNRC Office in Plains and the other team will work from an ICP set up at the Fire Department facility in Marion.

Fuels Involved

10 timber (litter and understory). Continuous timber, dead and downed lodgepole and recent logging slash.

Fire Behavior

Fire smoldering and creeping and continues to hold heat in heavy dry fuels. Active surface fire limited to interior unburned islands.

Significant Events

Crews continue to patrol and mop up all on all sides of the fire. Rehab efforts close to completion on western, northeastern, and southern areas; final completion will be dependent on removal of logging decks, and reworking roads when some moisture is present. Continued rehab efforts on the south end, west and north perimeter.

Planned Actions

Continue patrolling line and mopup inside control lines, spots, and slopovers. Continue rehab efforts along south, west, and north perimeters. Identify resources for Type 3 organization. Transfer of Command scheduled for Monday, September 10th at 0700 hours.
