Summary

The Pattengail Creek fire began July 13, 2007 from a lightning strike 10 miles northeast of Wisdom, Montana, in the west Pioneer Mountains near Stone Lakes. When helitack crews arrived within a hour of the first report, a column had formed as dense dead-and-down lodgepole pine and sub-alpine fir trees burned.

The fire was declared contained on Sept. 25.
