The Yellow Jacket Fire was detected the afternoon of September 07 2013 on the North Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The Yellow Jacket Fire was started by lightning is burning in timber and is currently approximately 1.3 acres in size. The fire is burning in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness approximately 2.5 miles southeast of Yellow Jacket Lake. The Yellow Jacket Fire is being managed to accomplish land and resource managment plan objectives. The Yellow Jacket Fire is being actively monitored by firefighters in the area. As of Friday September 13 the fire continues to smolder with isolated torching.
