Update 8/16/2013: The Ferry Basin Fire is lined and contained. The fire has 1 crew, a skidgine and approximately 35 fire personnel attached to it. The fire remains calm and mopping up operations are continuing.
The lightning caused Ferry Basin Fire was started on Sunday, August 11th. This fire is located 6 miles west of the National Bison Range. This fire started burning in timber and grass and quickly grew to 110 acres and spreading into nearby timber stands. Fire resources on the fire are tribal cats/skidgines, 3 water tenders, 4 type 6 contract engines, 3 hand crews and 2 helicopters. Additional crews and machinery are being ordered to help suppress this fire.
