The fire is located on the Mendocino National Forest (Grindstone Ranger District) approximately 45 miles west of Chico and 15 miles northwest of Elk Creek along County Road 306. County Road 55/ Forest Road M4 southwest of Paskenta, including Black Bear Camp, and Forest Road M9 from County Road 313 west to Log Springs are currently closed due to fire traffic in the area. Crews made good progress overnight, mopping up to a minimum of 50 feet inside the fire perimeter and securing line. Today, crews will continue to mop up, and to assess and initiate suppression repair. Smoke may be observed in the fire area as unburned pockets of fuel within the fire perimeter continue to ignite.
