Incident Overview

The Byrd Canyon fire started on Saturday, September 8. It was one of 110 fires started by a lightning storm. It is estimated at 6,500 acres, burning in young timber and downfall.

Highway 97A is intermittendly closed between Chelan and the junction with Navarre Coulee Road. The first three miles of Navarre Coulee Road are closed. 19 homes have been put on Level 3 evacuation.
