Region 23 Fire assessments continue, Type III Team Transitions later today
The Region 23 Complex Fire of 86,201 in Dawes County is 100% contained with no significant activity.
Today and tomorrow firefighters will focus on mop-up and working on any hot spots shown on the IR detection flight report that was done last night. Rehabilitation continues on dozer and road grader fireline that was put in place when suppression efforts were at its peak.
The Type III IMT managed by Terry McShane, will begin active demob mid-day Monday, Sept. 10.
Both Chadron State Park and Hudson-Meng Bison Kill Research and Visitor Center are now open while burned areas of the Pine Ridge Ranger District are temporarily closed.

Damage assessment teams have been ordered and will arrive 9/4/12. A BEAR Team has arrived and is assessing rehab needs. Type 3 IMT beginning Sept. 5th. Douthit fire is 29,730 acres. West Ash is 56,471 acres. 9/10 at 6 p.m. command transferred to local agencies. This is the final entry for Region 23 Fire Complex.
