During the week of October 22, the Halstead Fire area received winter moisture of snow and rain providing for a season ending event. At this time there have been no patrols of the fire area. Timber (litter and understory)which is mixed conifer (lodgepole pine, spruce, sub-alpine fir) with the majority of those being dead, standing, bug-killed trees. In the Salmon River Canyon: Douglas fir, scattered lodgepole; sage-grass on steep, open slopes.
