Incident Overview

The Shingle Fire began July 1, 2012, at approximately 3:30 pm in the Shingle Mill Canyon area. The fire start has been determined as Human Caused and remains under investigation. The wind driven fire grew quickly to approximately 4,800 acres by July 2. Central Oregon Team 3 was dispatched and assumed command of the fire at 6 pm on July 3.

The fire was 100% contained on July 10, 2012. On July 11, Color Country Type 3 Team #2 led by Jeramie Ybright, took over command. Fire rehabilitation activities to mitigate the affects of the dozer and hand lines will be completed by Saturday, July 14.

The Burned Area Emergency Response team has begun assessing the damage caused by the fire and will be making recommendations to the USDA Forest Service and to the State of Utah.
