New grass pops up on the White Draw Fire one week after it was contained

The 9,000-acre White Draw Fire is 100% contained and management has transferred back to the Forest. The fire is in monitor status.

A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team is established to assess rehabilitation needs.

The Black Hills National Forest issued a temporary closure order for the White Draw Fire. This closure is needed to provide for public health and safety by limiting use by the public during the White Draw Fire activities. Exempted from the order are local residents, persons with permits, and persons involved with the firefighting operations.

The White Draw Fire is located approximately five miles northeast of Edgemont.
