Fire Behavior

Smoldering hot spots. Isolated interior torching.

Significant Events

Structure assesment continues. One (1) confirmed civilian fatality. Sanpete Co. Sherrifs Dept is handling the investigation. Significant run late in the operational period in Div K has pushed the fire into Utah Co. US Hwy 89 is closed from county line to U.S. 6. Successful burn out operation conducted in Div F. There have been 300 residences threatened and 160 structures destroyed, 52 of which were primary dwellings. Land owners in the Oaker Hills, Indian Ridge, Elk Ridge and Big Horn subdivisions allowed to return to their properties Saturday. Good progress made in all divisions. Mop up and rehab intiated.

Planned Actions

Plan for next period: Continue to Mop up and Rehab. Extinguish interior smokes in Divisions F and K. Patrol and improve line as needed. Division Y placed in Patrol status.

Remarks

Accelerated demobilization continues. Close-out anticipated Tuesday, July 3. Continued cooperation with Sanpete County Sheriff's Office for structure loss assessment. Utah County Sheriff's Office is cooperating with fire spread to the north. Fire causal investigation is ongoing. Other cooperating agencies include: Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Dept. of Lands, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Accelerated Demob continues. Team close out, 7/3 at 0930, North Sanpete Middle School, Moroni.
