Containment is 100% and the fire is controlled.
SAFETY REMINDER: Recent rains have caused multiple temporary closures of Highway 14 due to rock and mud slides. Along with rock and mud slides, trees are falling throughout the area. This includes live and dead trees. Remember, your safety is your responsibility. An area closure is still in place for recreation in the fire area. Check www.fs.usda.gov/arp or call 970-295-6700 for the latest information regarding closures.
ASSESSMENTS
The total number of homes lost from the wildlfire remains at 259. Details of this are available in the assessment article to the right. The number of homes destroyed may still increase as assessments are completed. A recreation residence was lost due to rock and mud slides and falling trees on July 7. This is a residence that is privately owned but permitted to be on National Forest System lands. The Forest Service is currently assessing other recreation residences in the fire area.

Outlook
| Planned Actions | Fire crews continue patrolling the fire perimeter and conducting fireline rehabilitation; “rehab” may reduce impacts (e.g. erosion) from the hand and dozer firelines, roads, trails, staging areas, safety zones, and drop points used during firefighting efforts. Chippers continue to work along roadsides to clean up debris that was cut prior to burn out operations last week. |
