October 11, 2011 1800 Hours

The fire was declared controlled at 2000 hours October 10, 2011. Firefighting resources will continue to monitor the fire. Final Acres: 34,068 Total Start date of fire: September 4, 2011

Cause: Electrical/Human Location: 6 miles northeast of Bastrop, Texas

Containment: 100% (Bastrop Fire) Fuels: Timber/residential area

Total personnel: 0

CURRENT CONDITION OF BASTROP FIRE AREA-Bastrop State Park remains closed. Buescher State Park is open.

ANIMAL CARCASSES: A burn ban is in place for Bastrop County. Burning carcasses or any debris is prohibited. For more information on what to do with animal carcasses, please call the road and bridge department at 512-581-4086 for precinct 1 or 512-360-4224 for precinct 2.

OTHER DISPOSAL NEEDS: For disposal of perishable goods there are dumpsters located at: Bastrop Co. Transfer Station, 601 Coolwater St. LBA; Circle D Fire Station #3, FM 1331 Circle D; Precinct #2 Road Barn, intersection of Taylor and SE 2nd Smithville, TX; Heart of the Pines Fire Station, Hwy 71 East between Bastrop and Smithville.

Please use recycling whenever possible. A complete list of recycling centers is available from the Bastrop County website.

ASSISTANCE: 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or http://www.disasdterassistance.gov/ or dial 211 for local information and statewide public services. A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center has been established at the Bastrop High School West Campus, 1602 Hill Street, Bastrop, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Saturday 9:00 am-7:00 pm, Sunday 1:00 pm-5:00pm.

SAFETY MESSAGE-DRIVE DEFENSIVELY- With the increase in fire traffic around local communities and utility personnel working along major highways, drivers are cautioned to drive safely, drive defensively.
