Incident Overview

On May 13th Fire Specialists successfully completed the final 40 acres of a 100 acre prescribed fire northwest of Deadman, and completed a 35 acre Burnt Valley prescribed fire 8 miles northeast of Chewelah.

On the 14th, fire specialists completed the 175 acre Brewer Prescribed Fire 10 miles northeast of Addy, which had a main objective of stimulating wildlife forage.

On the 15, the 85 acre Fritz-Demo Prescribed Fire was completed, which was located just south of Sherman Pass, approximately 10 miles west of Kettle Falls.

Thus far, approximately 800 acres of prescribed fire has been completed on the district this spring.

Fuels Involved

The locations being burned are underneath the trees in mostly semi-open forested areas, some of which have been timber harvested recently. The fuels we will be burning are a mix of timber litter, brush, and pockets of light logging slash (jackpots).
