Yellow Jacket Fire Update (Final)
Backround - Los Padres National Forest firefighters responded to a 15 acre blaze on the Mount Pinos district November 15 shortly before 2 p.m. Dubbed the Yellow Jacket Fire for its proximity to a trail bearing that name, the blaze is located three miles west of Frazier Park. Some of the area that the fire is burning in, was impacted by the 2007 Day Fire.
Initially, five engines, a helicopter and the Los Padres Hotshot Crew were responded to the incident, as well as Kern County who provided aditional resources during the initial attack phase of the fire. Resources on scene, were later joined by the Little Tajunga Hotshots from the Angeles National Forest.
Today - The fire was declared 100% contained at 12 o'clock noon today. Crews are continuing to "mop-up" and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
