At 1:21 p.m. Wednesday, August 26 Texas Forest Service (TFS) resources were requested to assist local fire departments with this fire located at N33 34.05 W98 45.79 approximately 8 miles west of Archer City, Texas, south of Wichita Falls. VFD's from Archer City, Windthorst, Lakeside City, Megargel, Lake Kickapoo, Bowman, Jolly, and Blugrove, Archer County S.O., and 2 private dozers began initial attack on this fire. The Lake Kickapoo Field Station, part of the Air Force Space Surveillance System primary anchor transmitter for the Space Command southern "fence"("Space Fence"), was threatened. There were no losses. TFS resources responding include an Air Attack, 4 SEAT's, and 2 dozers plus overhead. This fire is 700 acres, was 100% contained at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, and is controlled at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27. Fire cause was welding.
