The Morris Fire started at 4:27 pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 and burned in steep and inaccessible terrain in the San Gabriel Canyon near Morris Dam. California State Highway 39 remains closed. Glendora Mountain Road (GMR), Glendora Ridge Road (GRR) and East Fork Road (2N39) remain closed to the public but are open to residents with ID only.

Angeles National Forest officials are implementing an area closure of the southern portion of the Angeles National Forest due to the actively burning Station Fire. This fire is burning several miles to the west of the Morris Fire. The closure will be in place until it is determined that it is safe to reopen forest areas.
