Incident Overview
This will be the final update on this fire from Northen California Team 1. We will transition the fires back to the Modoc National Forest on 8/5/09 at 0600 hours. Today saw final mop-up on all but 4 fires in the complex. The remaining fires are in patrol status and will be checked by Forest resources until declaired out. All resources will be demobed tomorrow
All fires in the Complex are 100% contained. The Complex is scheduled to be turned back to the Modoc National Forest on Wednesday 8/5/09. There was one new fire that was detected yesterday evening. Crews attacked the fire and it was contained at .1 ac. There will be significant demob of resorces today.
The Upper complex is burning on the Modoc National Forest approximately 25 miles west of Alturas, CA. The complex consists of 15 fires that started as result of lightning on August 1. Most fires were quickly contained. The largest fire is 68 acres in size. Due to the logistical issues involved in supporting nearly 400 firefighters, a Type 2 Incident Management Team was requested. Northern California Incident Management Team 1 took over the fire on August 2 at 1800 hrs.
All fires have been lined and are in the mop-up stage. Incident resources are also available for initial attack of new fires that are found within the complex boundaries. There are now communities or structures threatened. There are no road or area closuers.
