AREA AND ROAD CLOSURE LIFTED IN STRAWBERRY MOUNTAIN WILDERNESS John Day, OR - Malheur National Forest officials have lifted the closure in Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, which has been in effect due to the Cougar Creek Fire. Fire officials have announced that the closure is no longer in effect and the wilderness area is open for public use. Officials urge persons to use caution in the area of the burn, and be on the lookout for downed trees as well as other hazards.
