Summary

The 20 acre Rock Fire started in the early afternoon on Tuesday, September 30 and was contained just after 7:00 that same evening. The fire is located near Rock Creek Dam to the east of State Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon. The highway is open. No homes were threatened. Six airtankers, 2 helicopters, 6 engines, and 2 Type 1 handcrews initially fought the fire. One handcrew will remain to finish mopping up today. Cause is being determined.
