Between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell across the Piute Fire area several days ago. As a result, fire activity was minimal and fire crews will be assessing roads for access into the fire. All future flood warnings will be managed by Kern County Office of Emergency Services - information can be obtained by calling 211. Crews are working on mop-up.

A BAER (Burned Area Emergency Response) Team is presently assigned to the fire. Rehabilitation of fire suppression efforts has been initiated and proven very successful on all contained sections. Approximately 8 miles of fire line have been rehabilitated so far.

Primary concerns for fire fighters include unknown road conditions due to the recent thunderstorms and flash floods and trees weakened by soil movement.

Significant Events

The Forest Closure in the Piute Mountain area remains in effect. The Bureau of Land Management's temporary closure for motorized vehicles in the Piute Fire area remains in effect. The flash flood watch for Kern County is still in effect. A recommended evacuation also remains in effect for all residence in the town of Lake Isabella, on both sides of Erskine Creek from the mouth of Erskine Creek Canyon at the pavement's end to the Kern River. Although evacuations are no longer due to the fire danger, the evacuation advisories will remain in effect due to the threat of flash floods.

**All flood warnings and flood evacuations are being managed by Kern County Sheriff's Office - Call 211 for flood information.** Crews continue to mop-up scattered hots spots. Rehabilitation of fire line continues on all contained sections of the fire. Between 1-3 inches of rain fell across the Piutes area 2 days ago, as a result, fire activity has been minimal. Primary concerns for firefighter safety include road conditions due to recent thunderstorms and trees weakened by soil movement.

Portions of the remaining open line are inaccessible. Efforts are being placed on aerial surveillance.
